Plastic waste reduced by 95%

At Town & Country Aggregates we have recently installed a baling machine that is already reducing the amount of plastic waste that was destined for landfill, by 95%.

When Chris Large, business development manager, joined the company earlier this year one of his first tasks was to look at reducing waste.

Having identified that one of the main waste products were used or damaged FIBCs (bulk bags), Chris approached several companies to propose a solution.

Chris specified a baling machine that will produce bales of used FIBCs, weighing between 400-500kg, which will be taken to a recycling centre.

FIBCs are made from polypropylene, which is a fully recyclable material; at the recycling centre the waste bags will be cleaned and sorted, and re-processed into new plastic products including packaging, garden furniture and storage containers.
